its really not unusual for me to find conversations i had a year ago mirrored in one of the logs of the muckrights irc channels. im already used to that: http://techrights.org/irc-archives/irc-log-techbytes-030521.html
ron and i are adversaries, because i think hes a user (of people, myself included) and a charlatan, but i am not like most of his adversaries. most of his adversaries are opposed to free software, while i am not. most of his adversaries did not spend 2 years writing for him and his website, and even trying to find new people to contribute (and encourage people i brought in to contribute further).
ron repaid me by telling lies and throwing me under the bus. he has painted the relationship between oliva and myself as more acrimonious than it is (which is unnecessary, because ive already said it has had major ups and downs, but ron likes to add things that arent true to the mix for extra whatever) and hes made up things about myself and stallman. its the latter that i consider the most egregious. deliberately (based on things he knows are untrue) smearing you to your own hero? fuck this guy.
anyway, its important to note (when someone wants a monopoly over what happened, and he wasnt even fucking there) that oliva apologised to me for what happened, because ron has exploited it ever since. each time i mention this, i also mention that i dont think it was olivas fault anyway. because i dont think he TRIED to get anybody to do that, and because he doesnt control what other people do. that points to an honest mistake on olivas part. but this isnt about oliva, its about ron.
like i said, its not even surprising to me to find that the #techbytes channel log for today consists (solely) of 148 lines of conversation between myself and "enorbet" from over a year ago. the timing is peculiar, i can speculate about the reasons, but its possible ron just wants to quote it later.
how did we get here?
apart from the reason msm exists, namely that i left muckrights and have spent the past few months trudging through this lie and smear campaign ron has concocted to punish me for leaving (its possible im wrong about the motivation, however ive had loads of time to analyse it and its by far the most likely reason for him to lie this way-- other than trying to get an interview with stallman at least, which is surely a factor as well) march and april in particular have included the following:
* ron pretending i wanted to come back (cf. marlene dietrich "i will come back")
* ron pretending i DID come back
* me spoofing these little announcements with a very silly (and not just a bit sarcastic) april 1 post
* ron doing a 40-50 minute video about me days later where he admitted i wasnt there again
* the latest gnu coup, which i reported a day or two before muckrights did
* ron doing another video where he mentions a comment i made in that coverage (but somehow he doesnt know the address of my website, even though he has published on muckrights in two different places)
* then going on to say that the coup shouldnt be talked about because discussing it might help them (how very margaret thatcher of him)
* then going on to say that the coup will continue, after/around the time of a chat log saying that (as of late april/early may) stallman is STILL being silenced (and that is exactly why i call it the fake stallman foundation).
note that i predicted he would talk about the coup again, after basically saying that people shouldnt talk about it. this cycle of hypocrisy is something ive documented various examples of, ive even given it a name.
but basically it is the mechanism that he uses to monopolise narratives-- say that people shouldnt talk about something (or that its not important) and then when theyve abandoned it, he swoops in and claims it for himself. hes done it again with the latest coup.
i said to someone recently:
"have i mentioned how he plays poker? first he says 'poker is a stupid game, i dont know why people play it' then he waits for everybody to go to the bathroom. then he grabs all the chips."
to show what muckrights is really up to, im working on a (very detailed) timeline of muckrights. even if it proves nothing to anybody else (which is being modest, even my "muckrights tips" helped one person, and thats a success) its useful to me as research.
but none of this would be this way if muckrights had never turned into a backstabbing, two-faced mouthpiece for the fake fsf. in the past, ron may have set his sights on the real enemy and focused enough on them that he was actually doing some good, but it only harms the movement to help cover up coups and misinform people.
i left muckrights for exactly the same reason i joined: i was tired of people hearing half the story and not knowing what was going on. all thats changed is i thought muckrights could help, and i thought we were helping each other. that changed when he thought he could sabotage me to get closer to an interview, but i think its simply in his nature.
