i told roy something when i was a total newb at bsd (less than a year ago; i am still a total newb at bsd) that i never thought he would start spreading like it was proof of something:

i never said it was required, only that it was possible.
i had told it during install NOT to start x automatically. i didnt know about rcctl yet-- booting was a priority. graphics were not.
roy has had months to fact check this, but all he cares about is making openbsd look bad because he still uses debian-- even though he knows how much trouble debian is in. just smear openbsd. big smears implying corruption, little smears implying nearly insignificant fud-- its all good.
if mincer noticed him doing that, he could help. mincer knows the answer to this:

that was so handy, right? because months later, after he started his smear campaign against me, he started telling people bullshit about openbsd too:

no, you dont need to. it works, and thats good-- but you dont need to. just go look it up. or ask one of the several regulars who know bsd-- like mincer.

THIS is exactly why i left muckrights.
first, i did that experimentation to try to help people be more free (from ibm and github, two entities roy complains about constantly) and he sabotages my work.
he takes credit and leaves out for things other people figured out, so he can speak for them and put words in their mouth.
he gets those things wrong, invents other things, which he doesnt fact check.
then he smears good things you care about.
is this someone you want to spend two years doing free work for?
roy is a dishonest scumbag. he uses people. he lies.
and hes smearing openbsd for the pettiest of reasons.
roy is on the wrong side of history here. he would hate that, but its because he doesnt really give a shit. hes a fake. the only freedom he cares about is his own. he uses lies and smears to maintain a monopoly-- even against people who spend years helping him, as well as (what he claims) is his cause.
and if it seems like a harsh interpretation of such a little thing-- ive done far more research that hes pulled exactly the same kind of shit with. this isnt an incident, its a pattern-- its a trait.
whatever cause you care about, contributing to muckrights is self-defeating. roy controls it all-- with bullshit, fabrications, and smears.
tending to roys smears against bsd is one of the goals of this website. he pretends to care, but he actually smears it dishonestly, and discourages people from using it. a reasonable person would just correct this. hes not going to correct all the things hes lied about. maybe we can get him to correct some of these things (probably not though).
