thats just it-- every time youve downplayed an instance of the coup (like you just happened to when i put up a story before you) you COST the movement (you play interference with) opportunities for us to (collaboratively-- as in the entire community has input) solve these things-- you MONOPOLISE it!

ive thrown out the possibility that oliva is the ibm version of an elop-to-fsf-takeover traitor, so i can only assume hes an idiot. so be it.
i said ron would help the coup, and his scooby doo waffling IS HELPING them get away with murder.
oliva is helping them too, by also downplaying the threat. its good for the short-term fsf numbers but it will kill the gnu project.
both of them want us to avoid a nuremberg trial against corporations for what theyve done to solve "the free software problem" and olivas version is like a broader, more serious version of ron wanting us to trust things going forward with muckrights.
the problems that happen while these two idiots called for "unity" with traitors and backstabbers are doing great harm to the future of free software.
and ron sez that he controls the new irc because he controls the domain. this is a bastardisation of the idea that freenode was taken over via domain-- ergo, sez ron, if you control the muckrights domain then you control the server.
no, thats not how it works in theory, or so far in practice.
but getting back to the bigger problem, oliva made a similarly foolish argument that because the fsf controls the copyright for the gnu project, it doesnt matter if things drift into other hands, such as gcc being "controlled" by red hat or ibm, which it essentially is. but not really, BECAUSE COPYRIGHT ASSIGNMENT.
this goes to show you just how fucking wrong he is.
funnily enough, he also told me that the fsf doesnt control gnu.

1. if the fsf has copyright over gcc then THE FSF has control, NOT red hat and ibm.

2. GNU controls the gnu project, NOT the fsf, who holds the copyright AND controls the servers for MOST of it.

oliva has spread useful information about coups in the past, even to me, though (not unlike systemd) it comes with big heaps of nonsense included and imo isnt worth it. best to get your (valuable) information from somewhere else, its less stupid that way.

NOW, the fsf DOES NOT control the copyright either, going forward, because the gcc steering committee just decided that now you can CHOOSE to give copyright of gcc to the fsf, OR WHATEVER, DONT if you dont want to.
and they just kicked stallman off the steering committee recently, but that doesnt matter, oliva said, because he was never really on it in the first place. hmm, alright.
oh but WRONG AGAIN oliva, because if this HAD "mattered" then people would have watched gcc MORE CLOSELY and they might have seen this shit coming sooner.
we may never know if knowing sooner would have stopped this.

back to ron, who keeps downplaying the coup. one day he says it failed and acts like its nothing, the next day he says we need to talk about it, two days ago someone came to irc to say it was important, then ron said its best to IGNORE it because "infighting" wont help, the day after he did an article talking about "the open source coup" and how IMPORTANT it is to talk about it OPENLY!

then a day or two later, we can say THE COUP FAILED AGAIN!
