### the-delusion-of-a-gnu-linux-community other articles: => no-you-dont-need-to-run-startx-in-openbsd.html no-you-dont-need-to-run-startx-in-openbsd *originally posted:* jun 2021 people who still care about gnu (outside the project at least) are beginning to realise that linux was a mistake. all linux ever did was co-opt gnu and take it farther away from freedom. it certainly increased awareness of gnu, but in exchange it was co-opted. some people probably still think this is in terms of image; but it is in terms of development. as muckrights will tell you (only sometimes), this coup is important to watch and speak out against. but speaking out for year after year has not been enough to stop the co-opting, and if stallman and the fsf have got a plan that doesnt work, they will simply do more of it. muckrights claims that stallman is aware of new threats (thats a half-truth on their part) but none of the goals or actions of the fsf or even gnu stand up to these new threats-- they simply watch, and call for unity. i have spoken to some of these stewards directly, and this unity is not tongue in cheek-- it is a sincere delusion on their part, that people who have spent more than 20 years co-opting gnu are going to "come back" (like ron saying i will come back to muckrights, then claiming i did) or give gnu back. theyre leaving, and theyre taking our show with them. that isnt unity. it isnt community. the whole concept of "gnu/linux" was delusional, but for years (i hope) it was an understandable delusion, a reasonable mistake. its a mistake that we all made. all this time, the "linux" and "open source" people (the ones who call the shots on that side of the fence) said the grass was greener on their side, they got the media on their side, they said they were better than we were-- they called us zealots, they called us autistic, they slandered and censored our leaders. they projected their corporate hate (towards user freedom) onto us-- torvalds himself said we were about "hate" when all we were about was being free of corporate control. corporation is NOT community. but linux IS inherently corporate. the days of a young torvalds making a thing that isnt as big and important as gnu are long gone-- they went away with red hat getting traded on the stock market and becoming worth $1b. they were long gone when microsoft purchased github and ibm purchased red hat. the goal of open source is to take communities, make them serve corporations, and then kick out whatever part of the community doesnt kowtow to the corporation. thats not community-- its co-opting. its corporate poaching. when corporations talk about "community", poaching our developers is all theyre really talking about. and corporations poaching developers is the same thing that started stallman on his crusade! he was unhappy that the computer lab was losing its culture to corporate control. hes too fixated on whether the code is under a certain license (a very, very important license, to be sure) to care whether the culture is disappearing again. but our culture started fading as soon as linux showed up. they started changing it, smearing it, influencing and controlling it. when it started to show up on our radar, when muckrights and others started talking about this, thats when people act like it started. but it started in the 1990s, not in the 2000s. its 2021, and gcc (which stallman created for freedom) is distancing itself from the fsf and gnu. and a lot of people are going to act like it isnt. it isnt just distancing itself from the fsf and gnu (and freedom) but its getting even closer to corporate control. sadly, this is not new either. gdb and gcc fell into red hats hands (through gnu itself foolishly outsourcing to them) many years ago. all thats "new" about this is the newer, bigger step away in the very same direction as all those years ago. the veil is being lifted, and the coup (the scam of open source) is in the open-- on our soil-- and when its "somewhere else" or "over there" people talk about it like its a separate thing. but open source owns and CONTROLS more of free software. this isnt even about the similarity of control and ownership-- the two are both true even separately (though the similiarity between control and ownership is still there, nonetheless). open source was NEVER free software, and we should have never merged these communities at all. because open source is DEATH to free software. it destroys it, it turns it into something corporate controlled-- it attacks communities and it cancels our BEST people. because if THEY (corporations) cant have them (under their thumb) then they dont want ANYBODY to have them. corporations are jealous, jilted lovers. if they cant have us back (as users) they will take away everything we care about. its exactly what theyre doing now. its exactly what they were doing, in a lesser way, all those years ago, when stallman said gnu/linux. there is no gnu/linux though. and at this rate, there will be no gnu. the rate will change at least-- when they have what they want (practically everything) they will abandon the rest. in hindsight, we should have NEVER adopted linux. we should have let them co-opt it (we couldnt stop them from trying at least) to the best of their own ability. instead they wanted our help-- they want us to serve them and THEIR interests. under the guise (THEIR guise) of "community", we did. like someone breaking into our homes to steal our valuables, and we volunteered to fucking gift wrap it for them. and "valuables" are silly anyway, yeah? but now theyre foreclosing on our homes, and it would be nice if we had anything left to sustain what we do. im not just talking about money, anyway. our most priceless valuables include our developers and our projects. but theyre taking those too. and some people (oliva for example) are stupid enough to call these people a community? theyre a gang of thugs! worse than mere vandals-- these people are snakes. there is no "gnu/linux" community. there never was one. like open source itself, "gnu/linux" was a scam that we fell for (that stallman himself fell for). linux is the ANTI-GNU. and now you can see that for yourself, if youre willing. i have left penguinshit behind. sure it has more features-- so does microsoft office. do you want microsoft office? does it give a shit about your freedom? no! do we have any control over it? no! how about gnu/linux? do linux people give a shit about our freedom? NO! do we have any control over it? NO! gnu (with linux) was DESIGNED in a way that it would ultimately gain us, then again lose us, control of our computing. im certainly not saying that stallman did that on purpose. he meant well. gnu COULD be salvaged. there is a difference between COULD and WILL BE, but it is at least technically possible. linux CAN NOT and WILL NOT be salvaged. it is an anchor that threatens to rip the hull out of gnu, sending it into the bottom of the ocean. gnu CANNOT ESCAPE DESTRUCTION, cannot drag this anchor along, without letting go of linux and letting it take its own path to hell-- without us. this is just as true of the fake "community" as it is of the kernel itself. its time to LET LINUX DIE. ron talks about the scorpion and the tortoise all the time. ron-- you have never learned your own fucking lesson! linux IS the scorpion. it will always do this, because this is what it does. it cannot be overstated that linux doing this isnt new. linux has been doing this to some tedious degree ever since its inception. youd think people would have learned by now. instead, they are cocky and foolish-- and pride goes before the fall. the gnu project keeps its head in the jaws of linux BEFORE it is tamed. what do you think is going to happen? or put another way-- what do you think HAS ALREADY happened? so please, feel VERY free, to "reunite" with this fake "community" as it runs off with our things, mocking and smearing us. you are a fool for doing so. those of us who know better will continue to look for freedom-- NOT for unity with traitors who not only mutiny-- but try to kill us off in the process. no. fucking. thank you. youre own your own, there-- and you will be, very soon. these people are not our friends. theyre liars, backstabbers and shills. they arent on our side. they have taken the side that tries to destroy us, and our freedom. you want unity-- with that? be sure you learn their secret handshake, then! first you take a gun, and you aim it at your foot. you make a little bow, then you blow your fucking foot off. then you kneel, prostrate to silicon valley, and you sit back and aim at the other foot, and blow that one the fuck off too. then you wait for the linux "community" to help you, and they say "no thanks! we got what we needed!" lots of fucking luck, people. good fucking luck to you. linux has never been the only kernel in the world. its not even the only viable kernel. people were happy to say goodbye to technically better kernels, when it seemed to make sense to freedom. where is that pioneering spirit now? its on the ground, with both its feet blown off. you can find a way up-- or, you can just lay there. its your call, really. but what everyone is doing, like a fool, is calling out to linux. they cant hear you. and even if they could, they still wouldnt give a shit-- because its not a fucking community. its a corporate fucking SCAM. stop being a corporations sucker. let linux fucking go, youre only hurting yourselves with it. => https://muckrights-sans-merde.neocities.org
