you would think that getting trolled 10 years ago was a blank cheque for any sort of behaviour, because now muckrights thinks it is above criticism (i mean, above "badmouthing") altogether.
it would have to be above criticism, if it is wrong to:
* lie to your audience
* lie to your community
* lie ABOUT your community
* start smear campaigns about your own contributors
* exploit free labour
* lie about positions richard stallman has
* lie TO richard stallman about his own writers
muckrights has done all of these things. but just like apple:

muckrights has censored criticism of its abused labour force.
and who knows why? certainly not because its necessary. wikipedia is far braver about this, having a wiki page dedicated to "criticism of wikipedia" along with links to some of its more PROMINENT critics.
you wont find THAT on muckrights.
you WILL however, find evidence of attempted censorship, when a second contributor (this is a fact, i know both parties) linked to a critic in an article, which muckrights censored at first-- then managed to "hide" later by uploading a separate file that wasnt meddled with. more than that, youll find a video (about me) that mentions the same website linked to (then censored, then partly-uncensored) in that article i just mentioned-- it mentions the website, but ron pretends he doesnt know the address. (i think thats hilarious, incidentally. ron is afraid).
you would think that after MONTHS of smearing me without cause (and seriously-- at the time, there truly was NO cause whatsoever. there still isnt cause, but now at least it might look like there is, if someone isnt familiar with the context) he wouldnt be afraid to address some of whats said here, though he knows i will only rip it to shreds. muckrights in 2021 is built on lies, and the evidence is mounting. ron fucked up, and the only fix is growing a spine, or more lying.
what does he lie to his audience about?
for one, hes acting like a pr firm for the fsf. ron used to be against pr, because its dishonest. now hes doing it, and doesnt think he deserves to be called on it. but we could debate that for ages, right?
what does he lie to his community about?
ron flat out lied about stallmans position on systemd-- twice; this month and also in january. rons community doesnt want systemd, and ron doesnt care, or he would have tried to do something in the past 10 years he knew about it. but he hasnt.
ron fabricated a position stallman doesnt have. he also told a bunch of lies about me, though they dont care about that. they probably dont care if he lies about stallman either. im not sure they even give a damn what he thinks about any of this stuff anymore. maybe its fun to listen to him bullshit.
what smear campaign?
after i left, he spent literally months talking shit about me. it was some of the same shit that people have said about stallman-- exaggerating his temper, failing to understand (or admit) the context, trying to paint him as crazy or completely irrational-- you name it. ron is a full on hypocrite every time he defends stallman. not because he shouldnt (his defences of stallman are perfectly reasonable) but because ron engages in EXACTLY the same lies and bullshit that are being aimed at the founder of free software.
but im not as important as stallman, so who cares if hes doing EXACTLY what hes criticising a lynch mob for?
again, muckrights is above criticism altogether. unlike wikipedia, which has at least an inch of spine about it.
what free labour?
ron treats contributors like womanisers treat women-- as objects to be used and thrown out when theyve served their purpose. now i realise you think im just salty because ron and i dont agree on things anymore (its not my fault he no longer agrees with himself though, ive been pretty consistent and ron pretends to agree with things so people do work for him under false pretenses).
youd think that getting people to do free stuff for him under false pretenses would be the sort of thing hes NOT above criticism for-- but youre wrong. try to hold him to this, he will just say youre like those novell trolls from years ago.
what about stallman?
the part of the smear campaign that is absolutely the most fucked up, is that ron lied TO stallman about me, regarding something he KNEW was not true.
TWO (technically three now, not including myself) other muckrights contributors are aware of this lie. stallman is not. alexandre oliva even apologised to me about this, but it is ron who owes me the apology for lying to stallman. and its basically provable that he knew what he was saying wasnt true. but there are bigger lies he tells and im focused on those-- they simply arent as personal.
IT WAS UNPROVOKED.
i have never done anything to warrant this sort of negative campaign. i was annoyed with the way ron was misrepresenting me, and i left.
he pretended i was nuts. he told everybody who would listen. he spent weeks, then months doing this. i finally started standing up to him, documenting this all publicly, and he started pretending i was coming back! then he pretended i WAS back. finally he made a video acknowledging i was NOT back. just another misunderstanding (a complete fucking fabrication) easily resolved by not mentioning it and talking about something else instead...
oh, and he also lied to one of the people who actually (or at least presumably) runs the website, telling them i was back. i dont know who that other guy is (i have a guess) but im pretty curious.
my response to this campaign (ive kept a public timeline of all this, for the inevitable point when ron starts to pretend y came before x, etc.) finally includes mocking. and i suppose, indeed, it includes "badmouthing".
what it also includes, is EVERY JUSTIFICATION for nailing ron to the wall regarding his load of bullshit.

ron cant talk about badmouthing. i literally have to write down lists of all the shit hes done, because while im talking about it here i almost forget to mention one or two examples-- he also borrows credit for research he had NO PART AT ALL in!
okay, whatever, right? no no-- he borrows credit so he can pretend to say authoritatively THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE RESEARCH ACTUALLY SHOWS.
but it gets better-- ron is also trying to poison the well about openbsd-- a project which too many people have shit on without any good reason at all. does ron have a good reason? no, hes just talking out of his arse. he might even pretend he DIDNT say anything just the day before. he keeps lying about shit.
openbsd is free software (minus the firmware, which i hardly endorse and agree we shouldnt keep). openbsd was in fact MORE free/libre than the linux kernel or debian (yes, without non-free repos) for many years. why attack it now?
because ron is a petty, spiteful, lying dick who uses people until theres a new batch to exploit.
but thats badmouthing, i know. im badmouthing a lying arsehole-- ron should have no problem with that. hes been badmouthing lying arseholes on his website since 2006. he just hates competition! (you might argue he loves it, but hes cheating nonetheless).
whats the goal?
like with other people being used and lied to for free labour under false pretenses, i want lying ron to have to do all of his dirty work HIMSELF. without the opportunity to defraud and defame the people who help him.
i know some people are going to be suckered no matter what. cant be helped. my efforts have already helped one contributor other than myself, and you never know when more people are going to realise what a liar this guy is.
the novell boycott took years. this might also take years. but telling the truth about a fucking liar who runs smear campaigns against his own volunteers (what are you, debian?) isnt just "badmouthing"-- its exactly the sort of thing ron pats himself on the back for constantly.
if id call out microsoft and id call out debian, why wouldnt i call out muckrights for doing the same exact shit? maybe ron expected me to play favourites-- hey, it wouldnt matter. we left favourites back 4 or 5 months ago.
